- The aim of the Multilingual Information Access Technology Day organised by the TrebleCLEF project is to put researchers, software developers and users together in order to facilitate a two-way communication of research advances and results by researchers, as well as the reverse flow of requirements and ideas from users and developers.
The final goal is to stimulate the discussion on MLIA technologies and provide a forum in which invited speakers can share their experiences, identify common strategies and needs, and detect future challenges in this field.
-
The event will include the presentation of a set of Best Practice recommendations that have been produced by TrebleCLEF in the areas of MLIA System Development and Search Assistance, Test Collection Creation, Evaluation Methodologies and Language Processing Technologies. Key speakers from the business and application communities will then be invited to present their experiences, requirements and problems with respect to Multilingual Information Access. There will also be a demo session in which the participants will be given the opportunity to view a number of prototype MLIA systems and components.
-
The final session will be dedicated to a panel discussion which will attempt to identify the current state-of-the-art, focusing in particular on those areas where the application communities still have problems in enabling the best solutions for their particular requirements. The purpose is trying to establish exactly what is the current gap between academic R&D and the requirements of the user and applications communities.
